Sylvia Bennett - Feng Shui Living

Sylvia Bennett FSSA, RIBA Affiliate, Feng Shui Master

My consulting focuses on caring about you just as much as your property and its surrounding environment. I am deeply passionate about my work and I have a special flair for effectively transposing traditional Chinese Feng Shui into the context of contemporary western lifestyle, whilst retaining its genuine cultural and philosophical foundation. My reputation as an exceptionally accomplished practitioner has been gained through demonstrating realistic professional expertise, commitment and conscientious integrity, alongside the generous personal support I give to every client.

Professional Expertise

I am an accredited Feng Shui Master with three decades of expertise practicing traditional Feng Shui and Feng Shui Design, an affiliate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), a qualified interior design and colour consultant and an environmental therapist. I also practice Vastu Shastra, the Indian parallel to Feng Shui, combining both as a powerful synergy to create peaceful living places that generate harmony. I consult throughout the UK and for many overseas clients.

Prior to establishing my Feng Shui Living consultancy in 1994, I spent ten years studying Feng Shui in action in Hong Kong whilst director of an international trading company, then I undertook extensive training with three distinguished Chinese Masters - Yap Cheng Hai, Joseph Yu and Peter Leung - and broadened my skills through further studies with Lillian Too, Joey Yap  and Raymond Lo.

For twenty years I taught professional training courses and workshops with the late Master Howard Choy, the world renowned Chinese Feng Shui expert and architect, and I facilitated external mentoring for PhD and Master’s students at Sheffield University’s School of Architecture. Nowadays  I offer mentoring to practitioners, students and lay enthusiasts.  I was Feng Shui columnist for a European property publication for several years and co-writer for a Russian Feng Shui magazine series.  My work, articles and interviews have been featured in the international press and lifestyle magazines, broadcast on the BBC, CNN and Asian channels.

During 1998 -2002 I took a lead role in setting up ethical professional UK practice standards for Feng Shui, which incorporated the self-regulation guidelines of the Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health. I also founded the Global Feng Shui Alliance and World Feng Shui Day in collaboration with leaders of the USA and Australian professional Feng Shui organisations. In recognition of my outstanding contributions to the global Feng Shui community, I was awarded Honorary Life Fellowship of the Feng Shui Society.

Major Commissions

Regularly commissioned for major projects, I notably provided Feng Shui landscape guidelines for London’s Earls Court urban redevelopment master plan and, as a Plymouth Architectural Trust committee member, I was involved in the initial regeneration plans for Plymouth’s town centre. I also participated in the steering group for the Building Research Establishment (BRE) project to develop wellbeing guidelines for architecture, design, and retro-construction in offices.

The iconic London Taxi Company engaged me in collaboration with their architect to provide Feng Shui design recommendations for their new LEVC electric vehicle production facility at Ansty, involving the building’s façade, reception entrance, executive offices and landscape features. The Chinese Works of Art department at Christie’s international auction house used my services for a major oriental sale event. Ongoing since 2015 I am in-house Feng Shui consultant for the prestigious Knightsbridge Apartments residential management company.

Commercial clients include architects, designers, property developers, dental and healthcare practices, lawyers’ offices, Canary Wharf trading floors, hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets. Residential projects range from a 16,000 ft² mansion, luxury apartments in Chelsea Barracks and Foster + Partners’ Corniche development on London’s South Bank, to modest suburban homes and studio flats. I aim to achieve a successful outcome for every project.
