Sylvia Bennett has a special flair for effectively transposing traditional Feng Shui into the context of contemporary lifestyle, whilst retaining its authentic foundation. Sylvia has over two decades of practice experience as an accredited traditional Feng Shui consultant and is Honorary Life Fellow of the Feng Shui Society. She is an affiliate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Landscape Institute, a qualified designer and subtle environment surveyor. Prior to establishing Feng Shui Living in 1994, Sylvia spent ten years learning the key basics of classical Feng Shui while working in Hong Kong, then undertook extensive professional Feng Shui training with eminent Chinese masters Yap Cheng Hai, Joseph Yu and Peter Leung. She currently assists world-leading Classical expert Howard Choy with his teaching at the European College of Feng Shui and she is an external mentor to Ph.D and Degree students at Sheffield University’s School of Architecture & Landscape.
Her other professional qualifications in interior design, colour therapeutics, counselling, aromatherapy, nutritional healthcare and environmental practices, together with her former commercial career background in property development, fashion and hotel management, contribute valuably to extend Sylvia’s expertise. Regularly commissioned to participate in major projects, Sylvia notably provided Feng Shui landscape guidelines for London’s Earls Court urban redevelopment master plan. Whilst a Plymouth Architectural Trust committee member, she was initially involved in the future regeneration concept for Plymouth’s town centre. She participated in the steering group for the BRE (Building Research Establishment) project to provide wellbeing guidelines for architecture, design and retro-construction in offices. Christie’s, the renowned leading global fine arts auction house, engaged Sylvia as their Chinese Works of Art department Feng Shui consultant this year. Commercially, the iconic London Taxi Company used Sylvia’s Feng Shui expertise to create a stunning reception entrance and surrounding landscape for their new State-of-the-Art production facility at Ansty.

Having lectured on Feng Shui and associated disciplines at the University of Westminster Built Environment Faculty and at the Royal Society of Medicine, Sylvia presents talks, seminars and workshops to professional groups and the public. Her consulting work, interviews and article contributions and have been featured in the national press and international lifestyle magazines, on CNN and the BBC. She was consultant author for a Russian Feng Shui magazine series and for several years was the Feng Shui columnist for a European property publication.
